Okay, so 100 blog posts isn’t that much for most of you. 🙂
But for me, it’s a major accomplishment. And I’m celebrating!
After all, it’s taken me almost a year to do this. Actually, yeah, a year. So the fact that I got to 100 is a big deal for me.
That got me thinking: why not celebrate small accomplishments? Maybe tons of people have published tons more blog posts than me. Maybe it’s not a big deal to get the dishwasher emptied. But if it feels big to you, then you should celebrate it.
Give yourself a little reward, take a breather, check off that to-do list box.
To-do lists make me think of the goals I set nearly a year ago:
1) I trained a puppy! Check.
2) I finished the work in progress: Legacy of Faith, plus a novel for NaNoWriMo, plus two novellas. Check. Check. And check.
3) I have maintained a more or less regular writing routine. Check.
4) I established a blogging schedule and stuck to it, if flexibly. Check.
I still have a couple of things left to do, but I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done. And I have to remind myself that I’ve accomplished some pretty important extra things too, like weaning off my meds and keeping my children alive. 🙂
What do you have to celebrate? What can you do to reward yourself?
As part of my celebration for this 100th blog post, I’m going to check another thing off my list and run a contest to help you celebrate your accomplishments.
Here’s what you do:
Leave a comment with something you’ve accomplished recently, no matter how small. I’ll give you till noon tomorrow to comment.
Here’s what I’ll do:
At noon tomorrow I’ll do a random draw from all the commenters. The winner will get a gift basket with a copy of my book Otherworld and assorted other goodies.
Sound good? Let’s do it.
Congats. 100 posts!! A huge accomplishment, by the way. I guess I believe in quality over quantity. I was over-the-moon for completing 19 days of posts in a row…then saw quality slipping so I stopped….
You trained a puppy???
Something I’ve accomplished lately: Made a recipe index for my blog. Thought it would take days, but it only took a couple hours. Woot!! I’m so pleased. And it also made me realized I need more recipes on my blog. Dual purpose.
Thanks for your post!
That’s great! Thanks for commenting! 🙂
lol, great, Sarah! That’s quite an accomplishment 🙂
Congratulations on all of your accomplishments!!!!! I agree we should celebrate the little things 🙂
Here’s my most recent accomplishment:
I fixed the jet ski! I accidentally got the rope stuck in the impeller/intake grate, and my mom, my son and I flipped it over and managed to get the rope out. We high gives each other when it finally came out (after about an hour) I was very proud that we fixed it, and didn’t have to go home and tell my husband that I wrecked the jet ski….lol
Hey Erin, love this post. And 100 is totally a great accomplishment!! Woohoo! The small acknowledgements are just as important as the big ones especially if they make you feel good! What have I accomplished… I’ve given up more and more the worry over what “I” think others think of me for being myself and I’m moving brilliantly forward in my business. I’m uber excited about all the new developments! Thanks for sharing your successes.

That’s a great thing to accomplish. Awesome! 🙂
Excellent accomplishment. You are right to celebrate it! Have a wonderful day.
Thanks Deanna!
Congratulations Erin!
I love your list of things you accomplished – it inspires me to create a similar list. I’m celebrating the start of my new blog, New Beginnings, and my new outlook on life 🙂
Stay true to you,
Laurie
That’s awesome, Laurie!
Congrats on post 100 and on a year! Impressive. I hit my 50th post and felt fairly accomplished 🙂 Can’t wait for 100!
That’s great Rhonda! Congrats on hitting 50. Won’t be long till you’re at 100 too! 🙂
We have a winner! Rhonda, I drew your name, so if you can give me some way to get it to you, the gift basket is all yours. You can email me at erinemhatton@gmail.com to claim your prize.
Congratulations of 100 posts Erin, that’s really something! I hope I make it to 100 too! I’m impressed with the fact that you’ve also achieved so much additional writing too, including Nanowrimo, that’s quite some feat!
I’m happy to have kept to my blog writing schedule this week despite having been involved in a car accident. I really didn’t feel like writing that day, but did it anyway. For me, this is ‘practicing what I preach’ so it was important to me to get something ‘out there’.
Awesome Nicola, but so sorry about your accident. An inspiring story you can use to encourage others. 🙂
Good job Erin. I found NaNoWriMo very useful for getting into the habit of writing consistently. Having a specific goal, such as a novel, is better than just saying “I will write a lot of words.”
As to achievements this week? I decided to turn down a high-paying investment banking job to make sure that I’m available for my kids during the next few critical years. Not sure if that’s an achievement or insanity.
haha Trevor – who says achievements can’t be insane? 🙂
Okay, everyone, the contest is officially closed. I’ll take a draw and notify the winner! 🙂
Congrats on hitting a big mark in any blogging platform in my opinion. You should celebrate and be proud. I do not recall now how long it took to get to the 100 mark for me, maybe closer to two years. Pkudos!
Thanks! 🙂
I am pretty sure I am past the time on your entry, but I thought I would mention (that I failed to do above) a few days ago I hit 600 posts – but bigger than that I got back to regularly posting. A downer, I am amazed that you have completed NaNoWriMo! I have attempted at least 4 times and still have not finished a book in rough draft form.
600 posts? That’s amazing! Nanowrimo was a very near thing, let me assure you. 🙂
Yeah, I was just checking on that. 606 post as of yesterday. That goes back to 2007 though, one post that year and really got started at the first of the year in 2008. Have taken most of a break that last year and half though, so still pretty good I suppose. Keep up the good work and you will get there soon enough I am sure.
Congrats on writing your 100th blog post! I just wrote my 100th today, too! So I’m going to celebrate along with you! WOO HOO! Great job!
Awesome, Penny! Good for you!
