So, I don’t have a title to review because I’m slogging through a book I don’t really want to read right now. Do you have any of those?
What do you do when you have to read something that doesn’t interest you but you feel obligated in some way to read it? Say it’s for a course, or a friend recommended it. I have to admit, I’m stumped.
Here’s what I do for lack of a better idea. I read the book one chapter at a time. And I promise myself when I’m done I can reward myself with something I really want to read. I guess that’s all I can do.
The other thing I can do is try really hard to make sure my books aren’t like that for other people. Eeek!
But as to the book I’m reading, I’m at a loss. Please, enlighten me. What do you do?
I stop reading the book, unless there is a real reason to read it. I also try to talk to someone who loves the subject, so I can gain an excitement in the subject that I find dull. (For example, if I find the time period dull, I can talk to someone who loves the time period, and her excitement and knowledge will help me get into it more.)
Oooh, good thought. Talking to someone who is passionate about a subject can definitely get you hyped up about it. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
